Observations:
You are welcome to observe in the classroom at any time. We do suggest waiting at least two weeks after your child has started before doing this. It will give your child some time to acclimate to the classroom, peers and activities. The teachers/therapists will also have had a chance to get to know your child better and can answer any questions you may have or thoughts/comments you might like to share.
Parent volunteers:
We welcome parent volunteers to assist with your child's daily experiences. This can take many forms:
Some families prefer that their child's photo and personal information be kept private. Please respect this by not taking pictures or videos, or talking about your experiences using classmates' names.
Conferences:
I will schedule a meeting with each family in early November. At that time we will discuss your child's progress and next steps for programming. Please start thinking about your goals for your child for the school year.. As always, please feel free to contact me at any time if you have comments, questions, or concerns and would like to schedule a time to meet.
Progress reports:
I will report on your child’s progress toward IEP goals during your team conference and at regular report writing periods (end of November, mid March, and beginning of June). You may request an IEP meeting at any time, and can expect an annual meeting at the district's request within 11 months of the last IEP held. If your child turns 5 before September 1st of the following school year, our team will schedule an IEP meeting to assist with the transition to the elementary setting.
Communication with outside agencies (childcares/preschools/therapists):
We are available to conference via telephone, email, and, if needed, a meeting at our school. We will need a signed release statement for each person you would like us to communicate with. You can rescind this consent at any time.
